I don't know if this is just me, but when someone tells me to do something rather then suggests I become irritated. I'm talking about a something that should be a suggestion. For example, "Get some new pants, you don't look good in those." or the one you've probably heard before "Don't do it that way, do it this way"

Even if the person has good intentions there's a side of me that says... "I can do my self, so back off!" The truth is, I value people's opinions. I trust that someone might have a better insight than I do, however I would like to learn for myself. It's part of becoming independent, I guess.

There are still a lot of things I'm unsure about, but that doesn't give anyone the excuse to tell me what to do. Remember that when you talk to me or anyone... if you want to suggest an idea start your sentence with something like "You could..", "Maybe you...", "I suggest...", or "Perhaps you..." - the people you talk to will appreciate you comments a lot more
